Lent 4A
The flowers gracing the altar are given to
the glory of God and in loving memory of Mary & Vito Giannini, parents and
grandparents of Rose and Susan.
We welcome in a spirit of silence as
the prelude begins our service.
OUR
APPROACH TO GOD

Prelude
Introit "Seek Ye First" K. Lafferty
Welcome
Call to Worship:
Psalm 89
I will sing of your steadfast love forever.
WITH MY MOUTH I PROCLAIM YOUR FAITHFULNESS TO ALL GENERATIONS!
I declare that your steadfast love is established forever!
YOUR FAITHFULNESS IS AS FIRM AS THE HEAVENS. LET THE HEAVENS PROCLAIM YOUR
WONDERS, O LORD!
*Hymn 381 "Open My Eyes That I May See"
Let us be before our God in silence.
Unison Prayer:
Psalm 51
HAVE MERCY, TENDER GOD, FORGET THAT I DEFIED YOU. WASH AWAY MY SIN, CLEANSE
ME FROM MY GUILT. I KNOW MY EVIL WELL, IT STARES ME IN THE FACE, EVIL DONE TO
YOU ALONE BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES. HOW RIGHT YOUR CONDEMNATION! YOUR VERDICT
CLEARLY JUST. YOU SEE ME FOR WHAT I AM, A SINNER BEFORE MY BIRTH...CREATOR,
RESHAPE MY HEART. GOD, STEADY MY SPIRIT.
Kyrie
(sung)
LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US.
CHRIST, HAVE MERCY ON US.
LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US.
A Word of Assurance:
Isaiah 9:2-5
The Summary of the
Law (Mark
12:29b-31)
This is the
first commandment:
HEAR O
ISRAEL,
THE LORD OUR GOD,
THE LORD IS ONE!
THEREFORE YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD
WITH ALL YOUR HEART,
WITH ALL YOUR SOUL,
WITH ALL YOUR MIND,
AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.
This is the
second commandment:
YOU SHALL LOVE
YOUR NEIGHBOR AS
YOURSELF.
There
is no greater commandment
than these.
Anthem: "The Lord's Prayer" Music by A.
