A Dad is a person who is loving
and kind,And often he knows what you have on your mind.
He's someone who listens, suggests, and defends.
A dad can be one of your very best friends!
 He's proud of your triumphs,
 but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient and helpful and strong
In all that you do, a dad's love plays a part.
There's always a place for him deep in your heart.
And each year that passes, you're even more glad,
More grateful and proud just to call him your dad!
 Thank you, Dad...
for listening and caring, for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!
 Happy Father's Day.

 History of Father's
DayIt would
be interesting to know how this holiday came to practice. Therefore
here
is a short history on the holiday and the meaning of the different
colors of roses to be worn that Day. Father's Day is
celebrated on the 3rd Sunday in June. The idea for creating a day for
children to honor their fathers began in Spokane, Washington. A woman
by
the name of Sonora Smart Dodd thought of the idea for Father's Day
while
listening to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909. Having been raised by her
father, Henry Jackson Smart, after her mother died, Sonora wanted her
father to know how special he was to her. It was her father that made
all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a
courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora's father was born in June,
so she chose to hold the first Father's Day celebration in Spokane,
Washington on the 19th of June, 1910.
In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge made Father's Day a national event.
In 1966 President Lyndon Johnson proclaimed the third Sunday in June as
Father's Day. President Richard Nixon made this proclamation permanent
in 1972. Roses are the Father's Day flowers: red
to be worn for a living father and white
if the father has died.
