Third Sunday in Lent

We invite you to maintain a spirit of silence as the prelude begins our service.

OUR APPROACH TO GOD
Prelude
Introit “In This Quiet Moment”

Welcome

Call to Worship: Psalm 46:1, 11
God is our refuge and strength,
A VERY PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
THE GOD OF JACOB IS OUR REFUGE!

*Hymn: 441 “Take Time to Be Holy”

Let us be before our God in silence.

Unison Prayer: from Catholic Household Prayers
MERCIFUL GOD, YOU CALLED US FORTH FROM THE DUST OF THE EARTH;
YOU CLAIMED US FOR CHRIST IN THE WATERS OF BAPTISM.
LOOK UPON US DURING THESE FORTY DAYS BEARING THE MARK OF
ASHES, AND BLESS OUR JOURNEY THROUGH THE DESERT OF LENT
TO THE FONT OF REBIRTH. MAY OUR FASTING BE HUNGER FOR JUSTICE;
OUR ALMS, A MAKING OF PEACE; OUR PRAYER, THE CHANT OF
HUMBLE & GRATEFUL HEARTS. ALL THAT WE DO AND PRAY IS IN
THE NAME OF JESUS, FOR IN HIS CROSS YOU PROCLAIM YOUR LOVE
FOR EVER AND EVER.

Kyrie (sung)
LORD HAVE MERCY UPON US.
CHRIST HAVE MERCY UPON US.
LORD HAVE MERCY UPON US.

A Word of Assurance and The Summary of the Law (Mk 12:29b-31)
This is the first commandment:

HEAR O ISRAEL,
THE LORD OUR GOD,
THE LORD IS ONE!
THEREFORE YOU
SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD
WITH ALL YOUR HEART,
WITH ALL YOUR SOUL,
WITH ALL YOUR MIND,
AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.

This is the second commandment.
YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR
AS YOURSELF.

There is no greater commandment than these.

Anthem “Near to the Heart of God”

THE WORD OF GOD
*Responsive Reading: Psalm 63:1- 8

*Gloria Patri (Hymn No. 623)

AND TO THE SON
AND TO THE HOLY GHOST.
